The recent trend and continual development of artificial intelligence has resulted in the widespread use of chatbots. In a world of fast paced tech and an overabundance of data, chatbots have allowed businesses and individual users to interact with data through human languages and conversational user interfaces.
Oracle is excited to bring Phoenix an exclusive hands-on-lab, directed by their own AI team, where attendees will get to develop and train their own chatbot.

User experiences have continue to evolve at a very past pace. Conversational AI-First will supersede “cloud-first, mobile-first” as the most important, high level imperative for the next 10 years. Oracle released its mobile cloud service that has seen excellent adoption with our customers and ranked as leader for Mobile App Development by both Gartner and Forrester. Oracle has continued to innovate and have developed a Conversational platform that is powered by Artificial Intelligence that uses machine learning algorithms to Bots. In this session, Oracle will provide an in-depth look at the chatbot platform and also discuss the roadmap and transition from simple user initiated chatbots to proactive Digital Assistants.
11:00am – Microapps in Oracle APEX for Web, Desktop, Slack, SMS, and Voice, by Jerry Ward, Viscosity North America
Accurate reporting of time is the lifeblood of a services business. In this case study, we reimagine the classic time card as an APEX Microapp deployed in five different flavors: as a web app, as a native desktop app, in Slack (desktop & mobile), and as a chatbot on both SMS and Voice. This approach allows the application to utilize any channel to reach out and collect time from team members.
12:00pm – Lunch break
12:45pm – Hands On Lab: Develop and Deploy Your Oracle Intelligent Bot
Chatbots are one of the first widespread uses of Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing. They enable end users to interact with data or a service in the most natural way possible: through natural languages and a conversational UI. In this hands on lab, you will get your hands dirty with this new technology that is set to transform the way we interact with enterprise services. You will develop and train the chatbot by defining intents, utterances, and entities. You will then design the conversation flow, connect the chatbot to a back-end APIs, and expose the chatbot in Facebook Messenger or Web application.
You will create intents (you can think of an intent as the meaning behind what the user wants to do), add utterances (sample phrases to help your bot reference intents when it parses the user input), add entities (extra content to enable your bot to complete a user request), configure system components (built-in components that allow you to perform typical interactions with the users, control the flow, perform language detection and manipulate variables) and custom components (REST services that allow the Bot to interface with external APIs) and finally configure messaging channels where you enable a messaging platform to use your bot.
**Developers are required to bring their own laptops and have Node.js installed prior the session.
2:45pm – Closing Statements and Q&A
3:00pm – Networking Event
